Millions of customers on 'unfair' energy deals

Consumer website energyhelpline.com has revealed that millions of customers are on unfair fixed-rate energy tariffs and could be saving as much as £500 a year.

A number of gas providers have recently announced that they are cutting prices (by around 8%), but these cuts won't be passed onto any customers that have signed up to fixed term deals. The gas providers have claimed however that fixed term deals do offer customers "peace of mind".

Hoorah for West Lancashire Council.  They are digging deep into their reserves to help their eldery council tenants not to feel the big freeze so much this winter.

Eldery tenants who pay for their for their fuel through their council tax rather than direct to the energy companies will see the rise in their fuel bills capped at 23.4%.  This is as opposed to a 47.6% rise they would see if the council were not taking £18,000 out of its reserves to subsidise the increase.
