I've always been a firm believer that traditional directories are on a slippery slope - they're in the ring with Google and Yahoo! and, whilst I'm all for championing the little guy, we all know where the smart money's going. For any chance of survival, the humble directory has to be increasingly artful to survive, picking different rules of combat to sidestep the competition it can never hope to overcome.
