Furniture retailers were pleased to see their best growth in three years as the rain forced the shoppers indoors. Food and clothing sales slowed but the tentative signs of recovery in the housing market and the choice of many to update their houses rather than go away during the holidays have boosted sales in some parts of retailing. Clearance bargains across the departments of furniture and floor helped secure this much needed lift.
There is a growing sense that the worst of the recession is over but many think that it will still be a while before consumer confidence is back where it was before the economic crisis. By the sounds of it those wanting to improve their homes are ignoring these concerns, so if you want to introduce a couple of changes to your property, now may well be the time to get cracking!
