A builder and his son face jail time after holding a wealthy customer’s wife and child hostage.
The victims were held at gun point and taken from their home in the middle of the night. The builder demanded £20,000 and threatened to kill the hostages if the customer called the police.
The issue was resolved in March but the builder was still unhappy, thus forcing himself into the family’s home in May. The man and wife were gagged as the builder demanded more money, which the couple did not have in their home.
The child woke up in the middle of then night and wandered into the room and was made to sit with her parents.
The builder and his son then stole £1,500 worth of items from the home and took the daughter and wife to their work premises elsewhere. The horrific event lasted nearly 24 hours before the wife and child were left near their North Yorkshire home. Nobody was harmed during the hostages.
The wealthy customer and builder disagreed once the builders work was finished due to the apparent poor quality in the customer’s opinion. The disputed bill was for £5,000.
