A builder from Watford has admitted conning four elderly homeowners out of thousands of pounds. Thomas O'Brien admitted overcharging the pensioners by a total of almost £20,000 at St Albans Crown Court.

New research by the Gas Safe Register has revealed that cowboy gas fitters complete a quarter of a million gas jobs each year. According to the study, there are around 7,500 'hard-cord' illegal gas fitters doing these jobs without the necessary skills or qualifications.

The 42-year old actress allegedly owes more than £690,000 for work carried out on her new home in Malibu, California.

Plumber from Lincolnshire builds world's longest motorbike

Colin Furze, a plumber from Lincolnshire, has entered the record books after building the world's longest motorbike.

Measuring a gigantic 46ft, the motorbike was constructed using two 50cc Honda Sky mopeds and pieces of aluminium and can travel up to 30 miles per hour.

The motorbike measures 14.03 metres and dwarves the previous record of 9.6 metres.

DIY on the increase as B&Q profits soar

According to B&Q owner Kingfisher, there's been an increase of more than a third in it's half-year profits, signalling a "renewed consumer interest" in DIY.

The DIY giants saw sales up by 7% to £5.1 billion and a pre-tax profit of £288 million in the six months up to 1 August of this year.

1)    For a top quality high gloss finish, wait for the first coat of paint to dry completely and then use 66 grade wet and dry paper with water over the surface, wiping off the excess with a kitchen towel. Add another coat after this and you will notice the shine. Repeat this again for a third coat and you will have a high gloss finish which looks as shiny glass.
