A 91-year-old woman is reported to have been attacked on Kendal’s Hallgarth Estate (Cumbria, LA9) on Thursday (September 26) by a man purporting to be a tradesman. After hearing a knock at her door, the pensioner allowed the bogus electrician into her house when he explained that he was there to undertake routine electrical maintenance.

After gaining entry for two accomplices, the trio made away with a sum of money. A representative for the local police recommended that homeowners in the area should be vigilant and always ask to see ID before allowing someone in.

We'd go one step further and say that if you haven't booked them and you haven't received written confirmation of a scheduled reading or check, send them away until such time as they have.
