A poll by DIY retailer B&Q has revealed that most over 50's are a lot more skilled than their children in matters of home improvements and repairs.
The survey of 2,500 people asked what range of simple DIY jobs they could perform and if they ever asked for help from a relative.
On every single task the older generation came out on top for their knowledge and the confidence with which they could carry out the task.
Jacqueline Caston of B&Q, which carried out the poll, said: “Here at B&Q we have been utilising the skills of the 50-plus generation for 20 years and realise how important their knowledge is to our customers.”
