Winchester City Council has decided they will bulldoze a structure next door as well as use half of the plot of land to build two new houses.

Builders from Leeds dig up unexploded shell

A group of builders from Leeds have returned to work after digging up an unexploded shell on a building site.

The device, thought to be a World War II bomb, was uncovered on Goodman Street in Hunslet on Wednesday. A 100m perimeter was set up and nearby offices had to be evacuated.

It wasn't necessary for the bomb to be set off in a controlled explosion.

A plumber stumbled upon a half submerged car in an icy stream between Carnwath and Biggar ScotlandĀ and managed to assist in rescuing an injured woman.

The car apparently ran through a hedge, down a hill and into the icy waters, leaving the woman inside drifting in and out of consciousness. Brian McVey, noticed the car and thought it was from an accident the previous night but decided to investigate anyway.
