Wooldridge Ecotec Limited has been fined £15,000 plus costs after Barry Murrell, an electrician, fell more than 5m while working for the firm on a condemned building in London. Murrell suffered a broken pelvis, a fracture to his right hip, a broken rib and a shattered hip socket after falling on a piece of metal sheeting which had been used to cover a hole. The fine was issued to the Surrey firm after the firm was found in breach of regulations relating to the safety of subcontractors in the workplace.
