Website of the Week - Landscape Juice

You may have noticed that we have a new guest blogger in our midst. Philip Voice, the brains behind a flourishing network of gardeners called Landscape Juice, is looking to share his experiences with our members.

Philip has worked in the landscaping industry for more than 21 years and has recently moved to France to begin “living the dream”. He set up Landscape Juice to provide a comprehensive place for gardeners to find out about industry news and to keep in touch with colleagues. It now provides detailed advice on gardening as well as tips on how to run your own business.

Phil’s blogging skills have recently been picked up on by TypePad as well as on The Good Web Guide. To read his latest ProblemSolved blog about the horticulture industry click here.

Research has famously shown that moving house is second only to death in the stress stakes, trumping illness, loss of employment and even divorce. So anything that makes this ordeal more bearable is very welcome indeed. iammoving.com is a unique online service, that allows you to quickly and securely notify more than 1,500 organisations of your change of address. Its creators have worked out that their site saves, on average 5 hours of phone calls and letter writing. And best of all – it is completely free.

A unique auction site is getting bargain hunters hot under the collar – and it isn’t eBay. Saveoo.com pulls a ‘180’ on the traditional auction model, by asking dealers to compete to offer the lowest price to a potential buyer.

The listings tend to be for luxurious products, from cameras and TVs to quad bikes and yachts. Users aren’t under any obligation to buy, even at the lowest price, and the site is completely free to use. Saveoo makes its money from its dealers' listings.

Launched in June 2007, Saveoo now has over 10,000 suppliers, with an ever expanding range of products.

The founders of LOVEFiLM.com have launched a property search website that offers something a little different to the market leader, Rigtmove.co.uk
With the intention of creating a more transparent property market, Zoopla! uses a variety of statistical sources to offer users algorithmic valuations on any property in the UK, as well as allowing agents to list their property’s for free.

Aside from the benefit of being able to satisfy any curiosities you have about the value of your own property, this site has viral appeal for property voyeurs who can easily value a friend’s or neighbour’s home.

The ‘Tempt Me!’ feature allows potential buyers to make offers on any UK home, and the owners to test interest in their homes without listing them for sale.

Website of the week - surplus DIY materials at discounted prices

www.whatdoidowiththis.com is a website that encourages traders to sell surplus stock online, rather than throw it away. Not only does this get the green thumbs up by helping to reduce landfill, it also helps the consumers buy quantities of materials that are usually only sold in bulk.

The site has a very simple layout, and it’s easy to browse for the types of materials that you’re looking for. If you can’t find what you’re after, you can place a request.

I would recommend www.toolstation.com as an excellent source of tools.

The company keeps its running costs to a bare minimum to bring trade professionals and DIY dabblers the best deals around.
A truly massive range of products at low prices await visitors to the online store, which has a simple yet intuitive layout, and always seems to have items in stock.

Alternatively you can request the new printed catalogue to be rushed to you.
